Greece in Cuba, and the Griego Orthodox Community of La Habana

Описание к видео Greece in Cuba, and the Griego Orthodox Community of La Habana

Cuba has about 30-50 Greeks yet Hellenism has left its mark thanks to Fidel Castro, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, His Eminence Archbishop Athenagoras of Mexico and of course the wonderful Father I met, Father Nicolás Pérez, Vicar of the Archdiocese of Cuba, of the Diocese of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean Islands of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.

I met several Greek speakers on my Journey and I a whole bunch of Cubans who are the type of energetic and cultured people you will meet in Athens or Lesvos!

This is just a sample of what Cuba was like, it’s not all Greek to me as people such as Ivan Ernesto Barreto from the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples ICAP,
his friends, Mr. Chavez, Melissa and others went out of their way for me and I will forever be grateful for the experiences I had. Few people get the type of insight that they gave me.

I conclude on this note, La Habana is very much like Athens or Thessaloniki, good people and plenty to see and do. I really can’t understand why the USA keeps the sanctions, also known as a blockade, in place. It makes no sense at all as it simply hurts people who just want to get on with their lives without being bullied by the USA government
