KurdDAO aims to bring global solidarity and awareness to the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom, initially raising funding to support women’s liberation, freedom for Kurdish political prisoners, as well as those fighting for democratic modernity in the Middle East.

Since the end of World War I, the Kurds have maintained solidarity despite continual displacement and being subject to hegemonic powers, genocides, and aggressions across Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran.

Meanwhile, our fight for freedom has largely gone unrecognized on the global stage as we continue to be treated with oppression, violence, and unjust imprisonment in many countries in which we reside. The revolts now happening in Rojhilat (Irani Kurdistan), following the unjust murder of 22-year-old Kurdish Iranian student Jina Mahsa Amini, who was beaten to death in police custody for reportedly having some of her hair visible under her hijab, only galvanized the need for freedom in all parts of Kurdistan, channeling the empowering call for “Jin, Jîyan, Azadî” or “Woman, Life, Freedom,” originating decades prior in Kurdish liberation efforts and struggle, especially in Rojava.

The Kurdish project for women’s liberation, including the science of jineolojî, is the pillar of our future. Without the freedom of women, no society can call itself free.

The Kurdish people want to be recognized as worthy of human rights and freedom, and as representatives for hope against many forms of oppression. We want our story to not only be told, but to be seen and heard around the world.
