I’m going to bury a propane tank right here and connect the gas line to the house.
I like to use a trencher for gas lines. Because it only makes a 6” wide ditch, I can drive over it with heavy trucks without damaging the tubing.
Next, I used a CAT 306 to dig the hole for the tank. The hole needs to be 4 foot wide and 9 foot long.
This leaves extra room around the tank so I can backfill with sand.
Soon after I started, I felt the bucket snagging on something. Luckily it was just some galvanized water line from an old barn.
I lined the bottom of the hole with sand. I used an 8-foot 2x4 with a level on top as a guide so I can rake the sand flat.
It had rained and it was too muddy to get the crane truck near the hole, so we used a skid steer to set the tank.
They attached an anode bag to the tank. This bag keeps the tank from corroding and should be soaked with water before backfilling.
The guys ran ½” copper tubing from the tank to the house; then, they attached a pressure gauge and filled it with air.
This inspector will check the gauge with he inspects the tank.
Finally, they filled the tank with propane, so it won’t float if we get a heavy rain. ‪@hausplans‬
