"Stommelen was unlucky in the Division 1 race; he collided with Wollek just after the start, and needed a pit stop to change a tire. Wollek wasn’t so lucky - he retired on the spot. Fitzpatrick in the Barbour Porsche took the lead, and both Ludwig (throttle, than engine failure) or Mass (engine) were unable to respond.

Only once the race had some excitement, since here too the race had to be redflagged - and restarted, since the minimum distance was not reached. Schreiber was courageous and started on wets - and he lead the field for thirteen laps, from lap 3 until lap 16, but then the track was dry and the group 5 cars took the lead again.

Among them was no longer Stommelen: he tried to compensate for the lost time in the pits, and left his braking point on the wet track far too late and crashed his car. And that was the end for the Stommelen/Jöst liaison; just like Plankenhorn and Kremer, the split was taken to court.

No “Geldrennen” this year - that part of the race was reserved for the BMW Procar cup."
