'A Remembrance Tribute' -
A rural and typically English landscape with the images set to the music of George Butterworth 1885-1916.
George Butterworth, teacher, musician, composer and collector of folk songs was one of the many who was tragically taken in the terrible devastion of the first world war. He like so many gentle sons, many of whom were poets, musicians and artists rather than soldiers at heart!
These 'unlikely soldiers' enlisted willingly to defend this land and their vision of England. It was their vision and now it is ours, with its leafy lanes, lush hedgerows and verdant rolling hills. They went to fight on some foreign field for a land they called home, to live in peace beside those 'Blue Remembered Hills' and ramble along the lovely leafy lanes. As we go forth along the rural roads and rides of old England remember those we have lost and savour while you still can that which was so sadly lost to them.
Yet their essential spirit lingers on within those who can listen and love their music prose and poetry set to the gently rolling backdrop of our still green and pleasant land.
Enjoy these images that are mere attachments to George Butterworth's lovely music that simply says it all!
