The Moto G42 smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset and is protected with IP52 certification which makes it splash-safe. The handset flaunts a 6.4-inch AMOLED FHD display and runs on near-stock Android 12 OS. Motorola has said that the Moto G42 will be upgraded to the latest OS- Android 13 with 3 years of security updates. The Moto G42 smartphone has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

The Moto G42 smartphone is equipped with a triple rear-camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary shooter, an 8MP secondary shooter, and a 2MP third camera for macro photography. On the front comes a 16MP (f/2.2, 1.0μm) camera. The Moto G42 smartphone packs a 5,000mAh battery that supports 20W "TurboPower" charging. For music, the Moto G42 smartphone has Dolby Atmos stereo speakers.
