Η Επίσημη Αλλαγή της Προεδρικής Φρουράς , Σύνταγμα The Official Changing of the Presidential Guard

Η Επίσημη Αλλαγή της Προεδρικής Φρουράς στο Μνημείο του Άγνωστου στρατιώτη , γίνεται μόνο κάθε Κυριακή πρωί στις 11.00.
Η μακρόχρονη ιστορία της Προεδρικής Φρουράς ξεκινά την 12η Δεκεμβρίου του 1868, με τη σύσταση ενός μάχιμου και ταυτοχρόνως τελετουργικού τμήματος, του μόνιμου Στρατού, με την ονομασία «Άγημα». Σκοπός της δημιουργίας του, ήταν η παροχή άριστης στρατιωτικής εκπαίδευσης στους διακριθέντες για τη στρατιωτική τους αρετή, ώστε να αποτελέσουν υπόδειγμα εκπαίδευσης για τον υπόλοιπο Στρατό.
Μετά τους Βαλκανικούς Πολέμους, το 1914, μετονομάζεται σε «Ανακτορική Φρουρά». Το 1929, έτος έναρξης των εργασιών ανέγερσης του Μνημείου του Αγνώστου Στρατιώτη, λόχος Ευζώνων με την ονομασία «Λόχος Φρουράς Προέδρου της Δημοκρατίας», αναλαμβάνει τη φύλαξη του.
Στην πορεία των χρόνων και με τις αλλαγές του πολιτεύματος, οι μετονομασίες διαδέχονταν η μια την άλλη: «Λόχος Βασιλικής Φρουράς» (1940), «Τιμητική Φρουρά του Αγνώστου Στρατιώτη»(1941), «Φρουρά Σημαίας»(1942), «Βασιλική Φρουρά»(1946). Ωστόσο, παρέμενε αμετάβλητη η αποστολή που αφορούσε στην τιμητική φρούρηση του Μνημείου του Αγνώστου Στρατιώτη και των Ανακτόρων.
Από το 1974, με την αποκατάσταση της Δημοκρατίας στην Ελλάδα, ονομάζεται οριστικά πλέον «Προεδρική Φρουρά», έχει καθαρά τελετουργικό χαρακτήρα και υπάγεται στο Στρατιωτικό Γραφείο της Προεδρίας της Δημοκρατίας.

The Official Changing of the Presidential Guard at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier takes place only every Sunday morning at 11.00.
The long history of the Presidential Guard begins on December 12, 1868, with the formation of a combat and at the same time ceremonial part of the standing Army, called "Agema". The purpose of its creation was to provide excellent military training to those distinguished for their military virtue, so that they could be a training model for the rest of the Army.
After the Balkan Wars, in 1914, it was renamed "Palace Guard". In 1929, the year the construction of the Monument to the Unknown Soldier began, the Evzones company under the name "Guard Company of the President of the Republic" took over its guarding.
Over the years and with the changes in the state, the renamings followed one another: "Royal Guard Company" (1940), "Unknown Soldier's Honor Guard" (1941), "Flag Guard" (1942), "Royal Guard "(1946). However, the mission regarding the honorable guarding of the Monument to the Unknown Soldier and the Palaces remained unchanged.
Since 1974, with the restoration of the Republic in Greece, it is now definitively called the "Presidential Guard", has a purely ceremonial character and is subordinate to the Military Office of the Presidency of the Republic.
