Configuring new HP_switch2620 with a IP and default VLAN.
OR
restoring config from backup to new HP E2620 switch

connecting with putty
connect switch with RJ45-serial-usb connector to your laptop/desktop usb port.
identity the com port from the Device Manager of Computer management console under section Ports "COM&LPT"
--In my case I found it as com7-
start putty New session, opt for serial and type com7 with default speed as it.
open the console, hit enter once wait for few second to propagate the message.

restoring config from backup
Open the existing backup configuration in a text editor such as notepad and highlight the text from the beginning of the configuration which normally starts with “hostname” until you reach the end.
copy this selected content.
back to putty console, type below command and hit enter
#config t

right click and paste the copied configuration into the terminal window. Line by line the console will apply the configuration parameters to the switch until it reaches the end.
Once the configuration part is done, you will be left with the “(config)#” prompt
execute below command to verify configuration
#show run
issue a “wri mem” to save the configuration to flash.
#exit
