Female Chinese Water Dragon Hunting Crickets.

Описание к видео Female Chinese Water Dragon Hunting Crickets.

Hey everyone! I know I usually film more "talkative" videos. However this was some older raw footage I took spending a morning feeding my female Chinese water dragon some crickets. Usually I don't film my "daily" tasks when it comes to working with the dragons however I figured if there would be anytime to film a good video showcasing a healthy and energetic feeding response from a Chinese water dragon, it would be when I'm feeding Harriet, my awesome female that has been the "highlight" of my work when it has come to keeping and now breeding Chinese water dragons for the past few years. I felt this video truly shows how a healthy Chinese water dragon should be eating its food: violently and willing to chase and hunt. I also felt there are some good angles show casing how lean her body is. Many times you see Chinese water dragons that are grossly overweight and fed way too often, or they're fed a terribly incorrect diet leading to an obese dragon. Harriet here is seven years old in this video and looks as if she hasn't aged a day because she is fed a low fat, high protein diet, and fed sparingly to ensure she stays lean and mean, not fat and grotesque. For those wondering: she is normally fed twice a week except when she is laying eggs. Laying eggs takes a lot of energy from females so it's good to make sure they get plenty of food post laying, to which I then increase the frequency of feedings to ensure she gets back all the nutrients she looses when making and eventually laying eggs.
Overall I hope you enjoy this video. It truly is cool to see her "pounce" and eagerly chase her feeder insects.
