President HH pays a courtesy call his majesty the LITUNGA at Lealui Royal Palace in MONGU

This evening, we paid a courtesy call on His Majesty, the Litunga at Lealui.

We expressed our gratitude to His Majesty, the BRE and the people of Bulozi for ensuring that despite the negative effects of climate change that has left the Barotse plains dry, the Kuomboka Ceremony will still go ahead tomorrow.

We have proudly attended the Kuomboka Ceremony for over 30 years. This is our heritage, our pride, and this is now a global event that we will always cherish.

It is unfortunate that this ceremony is going to take place in this manner because of climate change. We acknowledge the circumstances under which we live because climate change is real.

On the development side, we indicated to His Majesty, the Litunga that we are committed to supporting him, the BRE, and the people of Barotseland. This government will do everything to ensure that Western Province receives infrastructure development just like any other province. Our agenda is to bring zwelopili mwa Bulozi.

We also want to encourage other traditional leaders in the country to attend these ceremonies as it demonstrates the spirit of one Zambia one Nation.

Otherwise, we are grateful to His Majesty and the people of Bulozi for according us an opportunity to attend this year's Kuomboka Traditional Ceremony.
