The Amnesic Incognito Live System or Tails is a Linux distribution designed to preserve privacy and anonymity

The new version of Tails 5.9 has already been released and it arrives to solve various problems present in some applications of the distribution, in addition to this, the pertinent updates of the system base were also made, among other things.

For those who are new to Tails, you should know that this is a distribution that is based on the Debian package base y designed to provide anonymous access to the network, in order to preserve the privacy and anonymity of the user on the network.


Anonymous output from Tails is provided by Tor In all connections, since the traffic through the Tor network, they are blocked by default with a packet filter, with which the user does not leave a trace on the network unless they want otherwise. Encryption is used to store user data in save user data mode between startups, in addition to presenting a series of preconfigured applications designed for the security and anonymity of the user, such as a web browser, the mail client, an instant message client among others.

Main new features of Tails 5.9
In the new released version of Tails 5.9 we can find that the Linux kernel has been updated to version 6.0.12 to address graphics card issues and improve hardware support.

For the part of the changes made, the developers mention that removed warning dialog which is displayed when starting Unsafe Browser, which is designed to access resources on the local network.

The updated versions of Tor Browser 12.0.2 and Tor 0.4.7.13, in addition to the fact that in Tor Connection the screen has been simplified with information about the errors that occur when it automatically connects to the Tor network.

In addition to this, it also highlights the improved display of the header menus for some GTK3 applications installed as additional software.

Regarding the bug fixes, it is mentioned that the problems with the execution of AppImages packages that use Qt (such as Feather and Bitcoin-Qt) have been resolved.

Also work was done to fix support for some graphics cards, as removed from Troubleshooting Mode 2 boot options that break compatibility with some graphics cards: nomodeset and vga=normal.

Fixed broken application menu display in some GTK3 applications installed as Additional Software.

Of the other changes that stand out from this new version:

Fixed issue with clipboard encryption and decryption in Kleopatra.
The solution was made for at least 2 cases of persistent storage that are not activated: When the activation takes longer and when the Dotfiles function includes symbolic links.
Fixed 3 clipboard operations with KeePassXC : Copying a passphrase to unlock a database, using auto-write function, automatically clearing passwords from clipboard after 10 seconds
Locate the Tor Browser home page when launched from the Tor Connection wizard.
