On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist, was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University. Prosecutors have charged the suspect with aggravated murder, describing the act as a deliberate, targeted attack in a public space. His death was a sobering reminder of how fragile free expression and civil discourse have become in America today.

Just five days later, on September 15, 2025, Demartravion “Trey” Reed, a 21-year-old Black student at Delta State University in Mississippi, was found hanging from a tree near the campus pickleball courts. Authorities reported no external injuries consistent with assault, but Trey’s family and community are demanding answers, transparency, and accountability. His death has ignited profound grief and questions about race, safety, and justice.

Though their stories are very different, both losses highlight the same painful truth: our country is being pushed toward division, anger, and suspicion. If we allow that to continue, the flames of hate will consume us all.

This song is my plea—let these deaths not be in vain. Let them become the spark for something better: a new America built on truth, unity, and compassion. We owe that to Charlie. We owe that to Trey. We owe that to ourselves.
