The acting Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology (DHERST), Fr Jan Czuba, explained why students with high GPAs missed out on higher education selections. He mentioned that due to limited spaces/QUOTA at universities and colleges, students with GPAs starting from 4.0 were selected in descending order. He said 2024 is the first time non-school leavers are included in the NOAS. The admission pool includes both Grade 12 school leavers and non-school leavers.
