Advancing truth and justice requires strong institutions and survivor-centered partnerships.

In 2025, Yazda strengthened its collaboration with the Iraqi Mass Graves Directorate (MGD) and the Medico-Legal Directorate (MLD) to support the exhumation, identification, and documentation of mass graves linked to the Yazidi genocide.

This year, our joint efforts supported the excavation of 21 mass graves, the dignified burial of 22 identified individuals, and the documentation of new crime scenes that provide critical evidence for national and international accountability processes.

A major milestone was the signing of a historic cooperation agreement with MGD and MLD, formalizing joint work on exhumation, identification, survivor engagement, and memorialization.

These efforts represent more than numbers; they are concrete steps toward truth, accountability, and dignity for families still waiting for answers.
