Make sure your email list complies with the following protocols to prevent landing in spam folders come April:

1️⃣ Have a single click unsubscribe option present.

2️⃣ Authenticate your website domain.

This means you also need an email address at your domain and for that to be set as the sender address on your newsletters.

(If you choose Google Workspace, you can access your email on the Gmail platform!)

3️⃣ Finally, your email list must have a low spam rate. I’ve been seeing 0.3% as the limit.

What causes your spam rate to increase? People marking your emails as spam.

To reduce that, clean your email list by removing bots and inactive users. (This will also increase your open rate!)

Tools like Neverbounce can help you with that.

To prevent bot and unwilling sign-ups in the first place, make sure to include “I accept to receive marketing emails” verbiage on all forms and note that people can unsubscribe at any time. 2-factor authentication counts for this.

Another way to prevent landing in the spam folder? Encourage engagement!

Ask questions in your emails. When people respond it boosts your email’s reputation, and you build a relationship with your subscribers!
