What is eSakshya ?
eSakshya is an evidence management system, with both a web portal and a mobile app, designed to streamline and safeguard evidence collection in accordance with the latest criminal laws, particularly the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The ICJS eSakshya App allows police officers to capture photo / video of crime scene, recording of statements etc.

steps involved for using the ICJS eSakshya App:
1) The eSakshya user account created by ICJS State / District Admin for the police station level users.
2) Download and install the eSakshya app from Google Play Store.
3) Set MPIN for the app
4) Register with the mobile number
5) Sign in to DigiLocker
6) Capture Sakshya using the app
7) Upload to Digilocker
8) Link to FIR
etc.

Section 63(4)(c) of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, addresses the admissibility of electronic records in court by requiring a certificate dealing with the matters outlined in subsection (2). This certificate, signed by a person in charge of the relevant device or management, serves as evidence of the matters stated within it.
