SUNSET HILLS POLICE DEPARTMENT - August 26, 2017 at 1:15 AM, Sgt. Jeff Senior initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle wanted for FELONY RESISTING ARREST. The vehicle fled from the traffic stop and struck Patrol Officer Chris Medlock’s vehicle as he was attempting to get into position to assist. Medlock, Senior, and Patrol Officer Tim Guenther pursued the vehicle into the city of St. Louis.
The male passenger fired gunshots at Medlock on several occasions, striking the patrol vehicle’s windshield. Medlock returned fire, but the suspect vehicle continued to flee. The pursuit ended near Carondelet Park when Medlock struck the suspect’s vehicle, forcing the driver to lose control.
Two suspects were taken into custody without additional shots fired or injury to any officer.
Chief Stephen P. Dodge presented the Chief’s Commendation for Valor (the Department’s highest honor) to Officer Chris Medlock and the Outstanding Performance Award to Sgt. Jeff Senior, Officer Tim Guenther and Communications Officer Mary Ebeler.


Christopher Keown, 41, was charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and interfering with a felony arrest. He was sentenced to 10 years.
Cassandra Williams, of St. Louis, was charged with interfering with an arrest in connection with a police chase that included an exchange of gunfire with Sunset Hills police.
