Sky News host Chris Kenny has analysed the lessons learned from Donald Trump’s historic victory which could apply to Australia’s next federal election.

“The bottom line is this: While Peter Dutton faces a more difficult task in many ways, the pointers, the indicators are all to the good. They all favour the Coalition under Dutton, with warning signals out of the US for Anthony Albanese and Labor,” he said.

“Voters used to like giving their leaders, their governments a second chance; that’s less true now in the US and here ... that’s encouraging for Dutton and the Coalition.”
