Pedong lies 20 km east of Kalimpong on the way to Lava at an altitude of 1,240 metres (4.071 feet). The town, which is located on a ridge, commands a panoramic view of the Kanchenjunga and the Himalayan mountains. The town is divided into two parts, Upper Pedong and Lower Pedong. Pedong lies on the historic Silk Road that connects India to Lhasa via the Jelepla Pass.

Pedong is a small sleepy village located 22kms north east of Kalimpong at an altitude of 4,068ft and on the lap of sloping Damsang Fort ridge. Pedong is located on the road that connects Kalimpong - Algarah to Sikkim. It is one of the oldest towns in this region with significant historical importance. In the past, when Kalimpong was a major trading place, the road through here was used for trade between India and Tibet through Zuluk and Jelepla. Today the same route has become a common tourist attraction. Cross Hill is named so because of the holy cross that adorns the hill. Christian missionaries made this during the 19th century. This place gained tourist significance due to the clear view of Kanchenjunga that it allows. You can visit the nearby old tree which has a historical significance and you can also visit Delo Park, Science Centre, Buddha Park, Buddha Statue, Hanuman Temple, Pedong Cross Hill View Point
