What is Registered Device (RD) ?
Bio Metric Device (Thumb Scanner) may get misused by not providing thumb scan in real time, using stored thumb scan etc.
In order to prevent this, Adhaar Card issuing Authority (UIDAI) wanted to enable traceability, analytics and fraud management.
That is why they introduced a process of identifying each thumb scanner uniquely called as “Registered Device”.
This caused additional overhead on system, but it prevented misuses of the system.
