Описание к видео Automating in Industrial Automation vs. Traditional Antiquated Systems w/ Addison Waege

In the realm of engineering, the pursuit of efficiency reduction is a common thread. Many of us are innately drawn to problem-solving, to questioning the status quo with a forward-thinking mantra of 'How can I refine this? How can I automate this? How can I enhance it?' These questions have been pivotal in my experience, particularly with the OEM I collaborate with and my previous role with a controls integrator.

On countless occasions, I've been confronted with scenarios where data collection methods are archaic - a person manually recording information on a clipboard and later entering it into an Excel program. Equipped with experience in MES development, I can see potential for substantial advancement in these situations. Automation, database integration, data analytics, and performance-driven results all appear within reach. It seems as if many industries continue to rely on outmoded systems and, as an engineer who thrives on facilitating efficiency, these opportunities for improvement are deeply compelling.

I perceive a shift towards data aggregation and collection as the long-term trajectory of many sectors. This conclusion stems from extensive collaboration with diverse clients and customers and an acute observation of practices that, in some cases, have remained unchanged for decades. Often, I encounter the sentiment, 'This is the way we've always done it, so we're not inclined to change.' However, this traditionalist stance doesn't align with my drive for progress. I want to be part of a culture of change, exploiting efficiency gains to enhance processes and yield superior data.

As an industry, we must maintain a vigilant watch on the evolving practices of our peers, while striving to be pioneers on the technological frontier. My experience with AI integration, machine learning development, and similar projects exemplifies this. Still, as system integrators, we must acknowledge our constraints. Our initiatives are largely contingent on our clients' requirements; we can't develop a solution if it's not in line with our client's needs.

Currently, we observe a trend wherein clients are driving innovation. They come to us, inspired by industry buzzwords, desiring to convert these concepts into tangible applications. However, it's our responsibility to guide these ambitions to fruitful ends. When a solution proves successful for one client, we can leverage this experience to offer similar advantages to other clients. The cycle of innovation continues, fueled by customer desire and facilitated by our technological prowess.
