In 1942, concentration camps began to incorporate brothels where women were prisoners forced to engage in pr0stituti0n. It was not a spontaneous phenomenon nor informally tolerated. It was a planned decision from the center of the regime and implemented in multiple installations of the system.
Access to the service was not free. Only some inmates could enter, with prior authorization. Women were transferred from Ravensbrück, examined by SS doctors and assigned according to their physical capacity. Each encounter was carried out under supervision and was recorded in the camp's archives.
What function did this mechanism fulfill within the camp's structure? Why was sexuality incorporated as part of the disciplinary system? And what does its existence reveal about the level of exploitation reached by the Third Reich?
