I found my old 5th-grade drawings of Mario levels I created back in 2009 for a program my friend showed me on his computer. He showed me a YouTube video created by Jeedunit that showed an intuitive level editor that emulates GBA Mario Bros 3 through a reworked game-maker client. I didn’t have a computer to access at the time, so seeing this game being played on his computer was what gave me the idea to draw levels for my own game. and because I never did create my game, I wanted to download the exact level editor from the video to see if I cooked up something worth playing. The game engine was designed by creator Ting_Thing and he worked on several versions up until 2014 which was when Nintendo copyright striked his projects.

For the sake of nostalgia, I went with the game download from the same YouTube video. which will put the Mario builder version close to the 2009 drawings I made as a kid. Ting Thing made later revisions of the Mario builder engine that added bosses and content found in later games like Super Mario World. The downfall of using the level editor from the video was that there were no bosses like Bowser. But what was available was still miles better than what Nintendo offered with Mario Maker.

l ran through each level created to show the 1 to 1 recreation and design flaws that had to be changed. Then finishing off the video I ran through the published game to see how tough the translated drawings ended up being.
