In Bhagalpur, Bihar, more than 1,000 acres of fertile land was leased to Adani Power at just ₹1 per acre per year for 33 years. Yes, you read that right — ₹1 per acre!

This land was not barren wasteland.

It had 10 lakh+ trees — mango, lychee, and teak — forming the lifeline of the ecosystem.

The land belonged to over 915 farmers, who were promised “vikas” in return.

But the truth is stark: on this very land, Adani is setting up a power plant whose electricity will be sold to the people of Bihar at ₹6.075 per unit.

So the question is: whose development is this?

The land is ours.

The cost is ours.

But the profits go entirely to corporates.

Assam Aerocity Project – Another Blow to Farmers

The story doesn’t stop in Bihar. In Assam, history repeats itself.

The Assam government has planned to evict more than 1,000 families.

Nearly 50,000 bighas of land have been earmarked for corporates.

This land is being handed over to build Adani’s Aerocity Project in Guwahati.

Once again, farmers and indigenous communities are being displaced in the name of “development,” while corporates reap massive profits.

Environmental Cost – A Silent Disaster

This is not only a story of farmers and tribals. It is also a story of climate destruction.

Cutting down millions of trees is not just about losing shade and fruits.

It means polluted air, poisoned rivers, dried-up water sources, and a hotter, harsher climate.

India is already facing severe climate crises from Ladakh to Assam — floods, droughts, heatwaves.

By destroying these last green shields, we are selling the future of our children.

The Bigger Question: Development for Whom?

The government proudly talks about “double engine sarkar” and “vikas.” But when land is snatched from farmers and handed to billionaires at throwaway lease rates, the real question arises:

Is this development for the common people?

Or is it development only for Adani and corporates?

The truth is bitter:
Farmers are being uprooted.
Tribals are losing their homes.
The environment is being destroyed.

Why This Matters to Every Indian
