CLACK WS1 IRON Water Filter PROGRAMMING

Just so you know, there are lots of water filtration companies that use Clack WS1 valves in various versions but brand them as something else, like we do with our HUM iron and sulphur filters. These valves are used by Water Depot, Nelsen, Viqua and lots more. How can you tell if yours is a Clack valve? Don’t look at the front, check the valve body and bypass behind the faceplate to see if yours has the round injector port on the top, as well as the “E” clips for the brine and drain line connections to help identify if yours is a Clack WS1 Also, the bypass has very distinctive red, arrow shaped handles. If yours looks like this, you have a Clack WS1 valve and what we are talking about here today applies.
By the way, the valves have a QR code inside the faceplate which you can scan with your smart phone to take you to the basic manuals. I have links in the description below to the more in-depth manuals.

Regen to start or schedule a regeneration or move back one page in the programming
First check to see if your valve is locked by pressing the NEXT and down arrow at the same time. You should get the next screen but if the next screen does not appear in 5 seconds the lock on the valve is activated. To unlock press ∇, NEXT, ∆, and SET CLOCK in sequence, then press NEXT and ∇ simultaneously for 3 seconds and it will unlock the valve. You may need to repeat the procedure a couple of times to get it unlocked.

For an Air Over Media Sulphur or Iron Filter
First check that the valve is setup for “Filtering” Press Next and Down buttons together and if “Softening” is displayed click the up button to change it to “Filtering” then keep pressing NEXT until you get to the last cycle.
Press Next and Down twice and select valve size.
Press Next to select: Alt off if this is a single valve system on either one or two tanks.
Press Next to select dpoff as we do not want the valve to be controlled by an outside signal connected to the DP switch on the circuit board.
Press Next to choose what cycles you want and in what order. You will start with a backwash and then dn brine. You still need to have the last cycle actually be end.
Once you have setup the cycles then you can go into the valve and setup the times in each cycle in the System Setup
Press Next and Dn and when you get to 1 Backwash default is 15 minutes but if you want to limit water usage you can back it off by a couple of minutes or if you have significant sediment you can increase by a couple of minutes but remember that you may encounter other problems with the systems performance if you make changes.
Next to brine (which actually means air draw), typically 30 minutes
Next off will be displayed as it is the end.
