Porsche 962C Pure Twin Turbo Flat 6 Sound ! Le Mans Classic 2022

The Porsche 962 was designed in 1984 to enable the German brand Porsche to participate in the American IMSA GTP championship. It differed from the 956 in that it had a 12 cm longer wheelbase to accommodate the pedal box behind the front wheel axle, which was mandatory in IMSA, and a single turbo engine, as the rules forbade the use of a twin-turbo engine. Its first race was the 24 Hours of Daytona (Florida) in February 1984, in the hands of Mario and Michael Andretti (pole position, then withdrawal). It was later changed to the 962 C with the adoption of the twin-turbo engine from the 956 and made its debut in the 1985 World Sports Car Championship and 24 Hours of Le Mans. Several 962 race cars were subsequently modified into road cars by various tuners. The most notable of these was the Dauer 962 LM, which led to the homologation of an LM GT1 version, which won the 1994 Le Mans 24 Hours thanks to a rather free interpretation of the regulations.
