Описание к видео True crime podcCrime and Punishment in New Hampshire: A Decade of High-Profile Casesast:

Case 1: William Kelly & Christine Felzone (2023)

Crime: The beating death of his pregnant girlfriend, Christine Felzone (33), in West Swanzey.

Key Details: Felzone was weeks from giving birth. Kelly, a repeat offender with a history of domestic violence, called 911 claiming she fell. Her body showed over 100 injuries. The unborn child also died.

Legal Significance: Kelly became the first person in NH charged with murder for the death of a fetus under a 2017 law.

Outcome: A mistrial was declared in 2025 over procedural rights violations. A retrial is pending. Kelly is held without bail.

Case 2: Stacy Marie Loton (2023)

Crime: Conspiring to distribute child sexual abuse material.

Key Details: Loton, a former NH state representative and the first openly transgender person elected to a U.S. state legislature, conspired with daycare worker Lindsay Groves. Groves sent photos of children (ages 3-5) from her Massachusetts daycare to Loton.

Legal Significance: The case involved a high-profile politician and horrific exploitation of very young children.

Outcome: Both Loton and Groves pleaded guilty to federal exploitation charges in 2025. Sentencing is scheduled for February 2026, with lengthy prison terms expected.

Case 3: Adam Montgomery (2019)

Crime: The murder of his 5-year-old daughter, Harmony Montgomery.

Key Details: Adam killed Harmony by repeatedly punching her in the head in a car after she had a bathroom accident. He hid, moved, and eventually disposed of her body, which has never been found. Harmony was not reported missing for nearly two years, exposing catastrophic failures in child protective services.

Outcome: Convicted of second-degree murder and other charges in 2024. Sentenced to 45 years to life (effectively a life sentence). His wife, Kayla, testified against him and received a short sentence for perjury.

Case 4: Hassan Sapry (2019)

Crime: The murder of his friend, Wilfred Guzman (57), in Laconia.

Key Details: Sapry, an Iraqi refugee with PTSD from childhood trauma, brutally attacked Guzman with a knife and a samurai sword after an argument about race and religion. He claimed an insanity defense.

Outcome: After a mistrial, a second trial in 2025 rejected the insanity defense. Sapry was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life without parole.

Case 5: Timothy Verrill (2017)

Crime: The murders of Christine Sullivan (48) and Jenna Pellegrini (32) in Farmington.

Key Details: Verrill, a paranoid drug dealer, killed the women, believing one was an informant and the other owed him money. He hid their bodies under a porch. His first trial ended in a mistrial due to police evidence-handling failures.

Outcome: At a second trial in 2024, he was found guilty of second-degree murder (but not premeditated first-degree) and evidence tampering. Sentenced to 90 years to life in prison.

Case 6: Owen Labrie (2014)

Crime: Sexual assault of a 15-year-old freshman at the elite St. Paul's School in Concord.

Key Details: The assault occurred as part of the "Senior Salute," a tradition where seniors sought encounters with younger students. Labrie, a Harvard-bound senior, was accused of assaulting Chessy Prout in a mechanical room.

Outcome: Acquitted of felony rape but convicted of misdemeanor sexual assault and a felony computer charge (for using email to arrange the encounter). Served a year in jail and must register as a sex offender. Prout later went public, settled a lawsuit with the school, and became an advocate.

Case 7: Seth Mazzaglia (2012)

Crime: The murder and sexual assault of University of New Hampshire student Lizzie Marriott (19) in Dover.

Key Details: Mazzaglia strangled Marriott after she refused his sexual advances, which involved his girlfriend, Kathryn McDonough. McDonough helped dispose of Marriott's body in a river; it was never found. McDonough testified against Mazzaglia under immunity.

Outcome: Convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life without parole. McDonough served three years for hindering prosecution.

Case 8: Michael Addison (2006)

Crime: The murder of Manchester Police Officer Michael Briggs.

Key Details: Addison shot Officer Briggs at point-blank range to avoid arrest for a string of armed robberies. Briggs had previously arrested and once aided Addison.

Legal Significance: Addison received New Hampshire's last death sentence before the state abolished capital punishment in 2019. The law was not applied retroactively, leaving him as the sole inmate on the state's death row.

Outcome: Convicted and sentenced to death in 2008. Legal appeals continue, arguing that maintaining his sentence after abolition is unconstitutional.
