Since I first hit about level 200 or so, clone wars has been my primary way to level up for pretty much anyone and it's also how I got Freeze going for the first time, using omega wind until she ran out of SP. Shortly after obtaining Marjoly (see the video from this around April 2010), I realized that the area where you fight Marjoly is the fastest way to level up magic users... at least that I'm aware of. You'll need to consistently deal at least 2.5 million damage. Sure the enemies have like 1.3 million HP at the very most, the half damage bug is what ruins it (a res of even 500,000 is nowhere near enough to cut back on 12 million damage or even 2 million, let alone a res of just 200 - this never happens in the item world). First, have a character throw the center divine majin 2 panels forward (one panel further ahead). This sets up the area so that all 5 enemies can be hit with a single spell, with the area of effect for 7. Then, have the wizard you're trying to level up strike. The star spell series is by far the only real way to do this. Elemental spells like omega wind don't guarantee you'll get all 5 in one, costing plenty of time. The enemies have equipment which means there's the potential for firefighters, cryophiles, and aeronauts. Combined with the half damage bug (yes, even 10 million damage with tera wind (and the related) on a an enemy with 90 wind defense and the half damage bug taking effect doesn't guarantee you'll get all enemies in one). Star-based magic doesn't have that problem, aside from the unavoidable half-damage bug.

Each 32-second round (possibly as little as 20 seconds if you can disable effects (of which I can't) and not bother with stealing enemy equipment), nets 183,869,948 total exp - 11 rounds at this (about 3 2/3 to 5 1/2 minutes) gives a little over 2 billion exp. With 76,227,579,270 exp needed for level 9999, that's only 414.57 rounds (415) of this (or about 2.306 to 3.689 hours). My clone wars method (see "how to optimize clone wars" for details) is the fastest for nonmagic users, where it takes 5 hours for a 1-clone, 2-exp pyramid setup, already rare to begin with (or about 42 seconds per round of this (assumes you don't bother stealing the enemy's equipment) meaning 4.842 hours). However, with clone wars, you don't have to worry about the warehouse or item bag getting filled with junk items all the time, which makes up for the slight difference of about 10 minutes.

Since I'm so desperate for teachers for getting extreme total damage and the such and going for a 9-figure popup, this is also an excellent way to accumulate them - the two healers on the far sides always have a kerykeion, a fairly high rank staff. There are 13 pieces of equipment per round. Any time I find a legendary one, I get my thief to steal it (in part 2 I demonstrate what I do if the thief doesn't - I drag out my other level 9999 characters that at least have a chance, but not on the level 9999 majins). The only time I bother with rares is if it's the kerykeions. I've gotten very good at spotting rare and legendary weapons for these that I very quickly can determine whether or not it's a rare or legend. The darker, the rarer. The bow is different - it's not a bright white, it's a kind of pinkish color. I cannot tell the difference between the rare bow and the legendary bow, so I often just check it instead. With the warehouse full again, it's off to clearing it out. An brief explanation of this follows at the end. Another, somewhat older video, "all about specialists" covers that part in more detail.
