Documentary NZ

Flight of the Conchords: On Air is a unique opportunity to spend an hour behind the scenes with Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, the comedic pair that have taken New Zealands fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo to the world.

A new documentary by Wellington filmmaker Hannah Clarke, Flight of the Conchords: On Air tracks unlikely heroes Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement on their journey to international acclaim. The documentary follows Bret and Jemaine in the United States before and after the release of their cult television show.

Both hilarious and illuminating, the story takes a look at life for the Conchords as they deal with new found fame and the many pressures of producing their successful comedy show.

For the first time in New Zealand, we hear the folksters speak candidly about the road to fame and we meet the other personalities, cast and crew that helped make their show a smash hit in both America and NZ.

Director Hannah Clarke has been in a unique position to gain access to the Conchords at their most relaxed as well as at their most frantic and exhausted. She has been present at key moments for the duo and allows us an up-close-and personal glimpse into this experience.
