This was not filmed from the best angle, but still captures the excitement of what is always a big highlight of any athletics championship.

The medallists from the 200 metres final earlier in the week all lined up for this event, with Tyrell Cuffy of the Cayman Islands hoping to make it a golden double. This he did with an excellent run, although not coming close to his best time of 10.33. He was pressed really hard by Guernsey’s Josh Allaway, who produced a cracking run to take his second sprint silver medal of the week.

The bronze medal went to an extremely exciting prospect Philip ‘Dami’ Williams of Jersey, who was still only 16 years old at the time of this race. He went on to represent Jersey in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa later in the year. He took the bronze at the expense of the 200 metres bronze medallist Karim Murray of the Cayman Islands.
