Ballaigues-based endodontic company celebrates its anniversary.

Dentsply Maillefer, a Ballaigues (Jura)-based global leader in endodontics and state-of-the art dental instruments for the treatment of root canals, is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.

Founded in 1889 by Auguste Maillefer and purchased in 1995 by Dentsply International Inc., the world leader in dental solutions in 120 countries, Dentsply Maillefer prides itself today of nearly 900 employees across 120 different fields of expertise in Switzerland only. Its three production sites of Ballaigues design and launch 2 to 3 new products and manufacture up to a million others a year. An engineering team of 40 employees develop customised machines thereby ensuring that the production process be kept on site.

"The dentist Auguste Maillefer started manufacturing his own highly innovative and technologically advanced instruments 125 years ago right here in Ballaigues. We are continuing the tradition by keeping the production local with the highest quality standards for designing and producing best-in-class expert endodontic solutions for global clients and patients," emphasises Dominique Legros, CEO of Dentsply Maillefer.

48 years at Dentsply Maillefer make Guiliano Olivieri the oldest employee. "It was a great opportunity for me to join the company 5 decades ago, at 16. It already had a reputation of excellence then, that didn't change over the years. I feel proud of showing the world what Swiss precision is all about."
