US General Joseph Dunford arrives in Tel Aviv

(9 May 2017) US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Joseph Dunford was welcomed to Israel with an official military ceremony in Tel Aviv on Tuesday.
At the ceremony he was presented with a Medal of Appreciation by the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army (Israeli Defense Forces) General Gadi Eizenkot in gratitude for his contribution in bolstering the capabilities of the Israeli army (IDF) and promoting US-Israel ties.
General Dunford is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman.
Discussions are expected to include US-Israeli military cooperation and mutual challenges, according to the US military.
Later in the day, Dunford is also expected to visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial.
