Описание к видео The Ultimate Guide to Master BeiDou Navigation!

The BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS; Chinese) is a satellite-based radio navigation system owned and operated by the China National Space Administration.

It is one of the global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) that provide geolocation and time information to a BDS receiver anywhere on or near the Earth where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more BDS satellites. It does not require the user to transmit any data, and operates independently of any telephonic or Internet reception, though these technologies can enhance the usefulness of the BDS positioning information.

The current service, BeiDou-3 (third-generation BeiDou), provides full global coverage for timing and navigation, along with Russia's GLONASS, the European Galileo, and the US's GPS. It consists of satellites in three different orbits, including 24 satellites in medium-circle orbits (covering the world), 3 satellites in inclined geosynchronous orbits (covering the Asia–Pacific region), and 3 satellites in geostationary orbits (covering China). The BeiDou-3 system was fully operational in July 2020. In 2016, BeiDou-3 reached millimeter-level accuracy with post-processing.

The Chinese GNSS, known as the BeiDou system, is a global navigation satellite system that offers a wide range of features. One of the key features of the BeiDou system is its two-way messaging capability, which allows users to send and receive messages using the satellite network. This is a feature that the US GPS currently lacks, making the BeiDou system an attractive option for users who require two-way communication in addition to navigation. The BeiDou system also provides precise positioning, navigation, and timing services, making it a valuable tool for a wide range of applications, including transportation, agriculture, and disaster relief. In addition, the BeiDou system is capable of providing global coverage, ensuring that users can access its services from anywhere in the world. With ongoing improvements and expansion, the BeiDou system is expected to become an increasingly important player in the global navigation satellite system market. Its unique features and capabilities make it a valuable alternative to the existing GPS options, offering users new and enhanced capabilities for navigation and communication.

Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) are satellite constellations that provide geospatial positioning. These systems enable receivers to determine their location with high accuracy using time signals from satellites.

The United States historically held a monopoly on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and controlled global information flow through its GPS system for many years. Russia was the first to offer an alternative with its GLONASS system. However, the recent advancements in China's BeiDou Global Navigation Satellite System have significantly changed the landscape, introducing a new major player in global satellite navigation.
The United States faces significant technological competition as China advances its satellite capabilities. The Chinese GNSS known as BeiDou system offers features such as two-way messaging, which the US GPS currently lacks. This feature enhances communication in areas without ground network coverage and has potential applications in search and rescue operations as well as in autonomous vehicles. This could be of great use in Africa, for instance.
