Kamareddy reels from record cloudburst and flash floods—explore the aftermath and ongoing rescue. Kamareddy district was hit by an extreme cloudburst, with Rajampet mandal registering a staggering 498.9 mm of rain in under 48 hours, marking the highest in nearly half a century.

The resulting flash floods submerged parts of the town, disrupted infrastructure, and displaced hundreds.Major arteries such as NH‑44 and NH‑161 were waterlogged or blocked, and railway lines were damaged, severely hampering movement. Areas including GRT Colony, Housing Board Colony, and Ashok Nagar were inundated, with water rising up to first floors. About 600 residents, including tribal school students, were evacuated to relief camps. The renowned Pocharam Project, over a century old, withstood a colossal flood inflow of 182,000 cusecs, far above its designed capacity.
