此曲受香港中樂團委託創作，於2012年完成。樂曲為體現匏樂的不同樣貌，分別以三十六簧笙、蘆笙、泰國笙三樣樂器之音樂語彙創作其中。全曲共分三段：第一段落，平靜的序奏、節奏感強烈的舞曲，運用大量不和諧和聲，開發三十六簧笙多聲部的可能性。第二段落，優美的慢板，模仿中國少數民族蘆笙音樂語法，強調旋律線條感。第三段落，歡快、熱烈的快板，模仿泰國笙演奏特色，加入一段即興華彩片段，使情緒達高潮至結束。

Finished in 2012, "Music for Gourd" Sheng Concerto is commissioned by Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. The piece embodies the various aspects of gourds, respectively adopting the musical syntax of 36-reed Sheng, traditional reed Sheng, and Khene (Thai Sheng). The music comprises of 3 sections:

The first contains a calm interlude and an intense rhythmic dance song using heavy dissonant harmonies, which explores the polyphony technique (multi-layering melodies) of 36-reed Sheng; the second is a graceful adagio putting emphasis on the supple melodies, imitating the Chinese minorities' musical language of traditional reed Sheng; the third is a lively and enthusiastic allegro mimicking the performing characteristics of Khene. All ends with an improvising cadenza and reaches the climax.
