Vegan Coffee
This time, we make vegan coffee, all vegan, all vegetarian, all plant-based coffee.
The three vegan coffee are:
1. Coconut Milk Coffee
2. Soy-milk Coffee
3. Plain Coffee
The base of the coffee is coconut milk, soymilk and just plain water. The coffee topping is made with instant coffee powder, and an equal part of sugar and an equal part of hot water. These vegan coffee are also called vegan Dalgona Coffee.
What is Vegan Dalgona Coffee:
The Vegan Dalgona coffee replaces the milk with plant-based milk, such as soymilk, coconut milk, or simply water.
Vegan Dalgona coffee is a coffee beverage. It can be prepared by whipping equal proportions of sugar, hot water, instant coffee powder until it becomes creamy and frothy, then adding it to cold or hot soymilk or coconut milk or cold or hot water. Occasionally, it is topped with cocoa, coffee powder or crumbled biscuits, or vegan honey.
The name "Dalgona" is the name of a Korean sugar-sweet or candy. The coffee made through the procedure mentioned above resembles the taste and appearance of the Dalgona candy. Therefore, people name this coffee Dalgona Coffee; however, most dalgona coffee does not contain dalgona candy.
The crucial point for success is using an equal volume of hot water, pure coffee powder, and sugar to make the creamy coffee topping.

The following recipe can make one serving of 1-cup of tumbler coffee:
Ingredients:
Original:
Three tablespoons Instant coffee powder
Three tablespoons Sugar
Three tablespoons hot/boiling water
Fill the tumbler with 1/2 cup-3/4 cup of soy milk or coconut milk of your choice (hot or cold) and add the frothy/creamy whipped coffee on top of the soy milk or coconut milk.
If you think it is too concentrated, you can downsize the coffee mixture amount using 2 tbsp coffee powder, 2 tbsp sugar, and 2 tbsp of hot water to make the creamy coffee topping.
Procedure:
1. place coffee powder, sugar, and hot/boiling water (1:1:1 ratio in volume) in a large mixing bowl;
2. Whisk the mixture until it is creamy and frothy by using a hand mixer or electric mixer;
3. Fill 3/4 full of your coffee cup with an ice cube of your choice; if you want a hot drink, then fill 3/4 full of your cup with warm/hot plant milk; if you do not like soy-milk or coconut milk, then replace the milk with water;
4. Top it up with creamy and frothy whipped coffee. Mix well, and enjoy it!
Notes:
The key point of success is 1) use 100% instant coffee powder; 2) use an equal volume of coffee powder, hot water (be sure to use hot/boiling water), and sugar to make the creamy coffee mixture.
Can I do not add sugar to make this Dalgona coffee? No, sugar is a vital ingredient that gives the fluffy, creamy, frothy texture of Dalgona coffee. You may reduce the amount of sugar in the recipe; however, the texture will not be as frothy as the original.
Tips:
Here are the tips for the success of the preparation of frothy coffee without failure:
1) Coffee powder: use pure instant coffee powder, and do not use instant coffee with powdered coffee creamer, as the fat/oil component prevents foaming;
2) The amount of hot water: do not add an excessive amount of water, as the additional amount of water will dilute the coffee mixture and sluggish the foaming process;
3) The temperature of water: Be sure to use hot/boiling water, as foaming will be generated faster in a warm liquid;
4) The amount of sugar: sugar should be added in enough amount, as the melted sugar maintained the foaming structure of the frothy coffee mixture;
5) The mixing speed: If you have a hand mixer, for sure, please use it to fasten the foaming process.
