Watch our NRA Gun of the Week video above to learn about the Bergara B-14 R bolt-action rimfire rifle.

Nearly every major arms maker throughout the world wars and beyond were commissioned to modify existing platforms, or create new ones to fire the .22 Long Rifle cartridge as a training platform for cadets. With ammunition readily available and inexpensive, the skills gained from employing such rifle are invaluable. Enter Bergara USA and its long-range competition-worthy B-14 R, a Remington Model 700 clone purpose-built for use with .22 Long Rifle ammunition.

The B-14 R bolt-action rifle features a two-lug bolt with floating bolt head. Attached at the user end of the bolt is a large, tactical-style knob with knurled bands to ensure positive purchase. Given the training rifle’s cross-compatibility with Remington Model 700 rifles, a two-position safety is found mounted to the right side of the receiver tang. A Remington-style trigger is also provided. The rifle’s bottom metal is sculpted to provide use of AICS-pattern magazines for Remington Model 700 rifles—a polymer 10-round unit designed for .22 LR is utilized to feed the B-14 R.

Bergara provides its heavy contour, 18” 4140 steel barrel with rifling twisted to 1 turn in 16”. The barrel is threaded 1/2x28 t.p.i. to accommodate accessories such as direct-mount sound suppressors. The receiver provides optic-mounting holes drilled-and-tapped for 6-48 screws capable with Remington Model 700 optic bases and Picatinny rail sections.

Bergara employs its HMR molded-polymer stock with an integral aluminum mini-chassis for consistent placement of the barreled action within. The HMR stock includes an adjustable cheekpiece and spacers to modify the rifle’s length of pull to suit myriad-size operators. In addition, molded-in QD sockets and standard sling swivels are included to accommodate accessories for use in dynamic target-engagement and hunting scenarios.
