Mifine unstoppable rod review - XUL fishing rod from Ali Express

I have recently had a ton of fun with a new XUL rod (Savage gear micro game 0-2 gram) on my local canal. The sensitivity of these XUL rods are amazing and makes it really fun to just go out and catch a few small perch or similar. Just keeping it simple and enjoying the fishing!

I’ve seen these rods on ali express and noted that the MIFINE ones have really good, and legit reviews. Since they were so cheap I decided to try one out, and in this video is my “first try” review of it. I will make a follow up video once I've fished some more with it.

The rod I ordered is 0.3-4 gram, 183 cm and rated as medium fast. The weight rating is definitely accurate, as I was able to throw the whole spectra that’s rated, with ease. I would say that the action is rather fast, like on the faster side of medium-fast. This makes it great for working small soft plastics where you want a lot of sensitivity or lures like tiny jerkbaits.

The handles are sturdy but slightly too thick and hard, but they might loosen up with time. As I mention in the video this rod feels a little heavier compared to the savage gear rod and that’s probably part of the lower price. I’m also missing a hook keeper.

When I hooked into two fish I was really happy with the sensitivity of the rod. Both fish put up a little fight despite their size. I could definitely sense that I had a little more say with this rod though, as compared to the 0-2 gram rating.

My conclusion is that I will probably use this rod more than the 0-2 gram rod for the type of fishing that I do. For perch fishing i often want maybe 1-2 gram weight + the weight of the plastic which instantly makes it too heavy for 0-2 gram. If I go trout fishing and want to throw tiny spinners, spoons and cranks that are in that 1-2 gram weight range, I still think I will prefer this just to have that tiny amount of power so that I can control the fish just a little bit. I’m also not as afraid to break this one as it costs a third of the other rod which is a big plus!

All in all - after this first try I definitely recommend this rod to anyone who wants to try XUL but not spend a fortune on a rod or anyone who just wants a cheaper but functional spare rod. It would also be perfect for kids since it’s a bit shorter, cheap but will make it really fun for them to just catch some small fish in ponds or canals.
