Selecting just one project that highlights the incredible work of new media artist, Refik Anadol Studio is always challenging but 'Virtual Depictions' (2015) is still one of our favourites. The project consists of a series of parametric data from the city of San Francisco that creates a stunning, dynamic and constantly evolving public art installation.

The main idea behind the artwork was to bring a 21st-century approach to public art, to define new poetics of space through media arts and architecture and to create unique data sculptures that have intelligence, memory and culture. "When creating this public artwork my goal was to make the invisible visible by embedding media arts into architecture to create a new way to experience a living urban space" - Refik Anadol
