I think Moses and the Exodus route crossed the Yam Supf (Sea of Reeds) or Nile River and went along old trade routes toward Sudan. Then I think they spent the years wandering in what today is Sudan, Chad, Niger and maybe Mali. The Sahara was not as dry then as now and not very populated so they would have had ample water yet would have needed manna to survive on.

It seems strange that the traditional exodus route with Moses and the people has no water at all. I know there is no archeology that shows a large group of people spent 40 years there, but where is the water? They had manna to eat but water in today’s Sinai would be a big problem as there is none.
