Trivia

After the premiere of the film a major fight broke out between Raj Kapoor and writer Inder Raj Anand. Inder slapped Raj Kapoor. After that, Raj Kapoor and the entire team of Sangam boycotted any film that Inder Raj Anand wrote. He lost 18 films. This caused him to have a heart attack. Sensing that the fight had taken
an ugly turn, Raj Kapoor went back to Inder and apologized.

Once, Jaikishan was annoyed with Hasrat Jaipuri, then later Hasrat wrote a letter to Jaikishan which says ' yeh mera prem patra tum naraz na hona..' then all was well with them. This letter was made into a song in Sangam, one of the best of Mohd Rafi.

Babita's father, Hari Shivdasani, was also in Sangam as Retired Captain and that's before he and The Kapoors became related.

After the release of Sangam, Vyjayantimala got married to Dr. Bali.

Raj Kapoor initially had planned the film as "Gharonda" in the late 40s. He wanted Dilip Kumar and Nargis. Dilip declined the film . It was revived as Sangam in the 1960s.

Raj Kapoor had told Feroz Khan that if Rajendra Kumar declines his role, he will sign him. Feroz was hopeful that Sangam would be his ticket to stardom in an A grade film. Rajendra accepted Sangam leading to Feroz's hopes being crashed. Feroz later around the same time landed a supporting role in Aarzoo. Also , arzoo had Rajendra Kumar as leading hero and was also a love triangle like Sangam. In that picture, Feroz loses the heroine same as Rajendra in Sangam.
