South African Rugby President Mark Alexander provides an update following a crucial EPCR (European Professional Club Rugby) meeting regarding the much-anticipated Global Rugby Calendar.

Alexander is optimistic, noting that for the first time, they had all the key stakeholders in the room, including representatives from the professional leagues: the LNR (France's Ligue Nationale de Rugby) and Prem Rugby (England's Premiership Rugby).

He stresses the necessity of capitalizing on this unified presence, stating, "Surely we can... we got everybody in the room now." A task team has been formed to work with World Rugby to finalize a calendar that avoids competition between international and club competitions, such as the French clubs needing their players during international windows.

Alexander suggests a potential solution: aligning the Rugby Championship (or equivalent Southern Hemisphere window) with the Six Nations, which would require the Six Nations to move back by just one week. This alignment would allow all international competitions to play at the same time, freeing up the calendar later in the year, which he believes "will work for the world."
