This is a new version of L'cha Dodi that I wrote in the historic, Baroque "La Folia" style. "La Folia" was a popular musical progression originating from the Iberian Peninsula in roughly the 16th century. It eventually made its way into Italy, and from there throughout all of Europe. The height of its popularity was in the 17th-18th centuries, during which composers created inventive melodic structures on top of this powerful progression. While the popularity of this progression has waned, its enduring beauty has not, as is still occasionally used by composers today.
