Restrained start ... big finish! At 3:28 there’s a huge flourish played by the feet, going from the very top of the pedalboard right down to the bottom. And then a final chord on Full Organ. Oh yes, this is a great piece to play on the organ!

Written by Steven Tyler, this massive song is from Aerosmith’s debut album released in 1973. Tyler’s father was a classically-trained pianist (at the Juilliard School in New York City, no less). What Tyler beautifully describes as the “chordage” of this song came to him at the age of three via osmosis, as he sat under the family piano when his father was practising. When Tyler was around seventeen years old he worked the song up as “Dream On”. In his own words: “It was just this little thing I was playing, and I never dreamed it would end up as a real song or anything. ... It's about dreaming until your dreams come true.”

I uploaded my version of this song to coincide with its use for a dance routine this evening on the UK show 'Strictly Come Dancing' - hence the glitterball in the thumbnail. The very first comment on this video suggested that, for my performance of this song, I might have considered donning the outfit worn in tonight's programme by the professional dancer, Nikita Kuzmin. This outfit is shown on the left of the thumbnail. Sadly, the cold temperature in the church precluded the suggested spectacle. But an even more compelling argument against the production of such an image is just my distinctly un-Nikita-esque physique!
