‘Alliance of Sahel States’ set to meet in Niger

The junta-leaders in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger are set to hold their first ever joint summit of the so-called Alliance of Sahel States, AES, since seizing power in a series of coups in Niger’s capital, Niamey, this weekend. For a look into why the junta leaders from other West African nations embraced the new alliance, VOA’s Linord Moudou spoke to VOA French-to-Africa Chief Timothee Donangmaye.
