(12 Nov 2021) Protesters gathered at the gates of the COP26 climate talks on Friday to demand more action and the phasing out of fossil fuels.
Climate activists from a host of groups, including Fridays for Future and Glasgow Actions Team, gathered to protest the lack of progress during the talks.
"I am so afraid of what's gonna happen next" Fridays For Future activist Mitzi Jonelle Tan, from the Philippines, said as she addressed the crowds.
"Why are we talking about 5 to 10 years as if the climate crisis isn't here today?", she asked.
One group had actors wearing masks representing US president Joe Biden and several energy companies and mimicked the US President trying to decide between "climate action" and "fossil fuels".
"What we want are serious binding commitments to remove fossil fuels" said protester Scott Tully from the group Glasgow Actions Team, "not cheap talk, not vague language".
Other protesters broke into song like a group of Norwegian grandparents wearing stylized Viking helmets and performing old Norwegian folk songs.
