Do Macs get viruses? It's a question I hear all the time from my clients. Apple computers are far less likely compared to a Windows PC, but there is one piece of software I think you should have:

Malwarebytes for Mac

Malwarebytes for Mac scans for Adware/Malware on your Mac. Should it find anything, be sure to empty the trash on your computer, then restart your computer, and then empty the trash again (if there is anything left).

HOW TO RESET YOUR HOMEPAGE:

Google Chrome:
Click where it says "Chrome" at the top left when you're in the Application and go to "Preferences"
From there under "On Startup" (which should be checked) click "set pages." If there is anything suspicious just hover your cursor over it and click the "x"

Safari:

When you're in Safari click "Safari" at the top left of your screen and go into "Preferences." Go to the "General" tab and under "homepage" if it looks at all suspicious, just delete everything in there and type in the entire URL of whatever website you'd like to be your homepage (most people use Google, a news website, or Facebook).

Firefox:
When you're in Firefox go to the top left corner where it says "Firefox" and go to "Preferences." It should list your home page URL towards the top of the list. IF the homepage look at all suspicious, just delete it and type in the entire URL of whatever website you'd like to have as your homepage" (most people use google, a news website, or Facebook).

HOW TO RESET DEFAULT SEARCH ENGINES

Google Chrome
While you're in Preferences look about 3/4 down the page and there should be a button that says "manage search engines." If you notice anything that looks unfamiliar or suspicious, just hover your cursor over it and click the "x"

Safari: Non-issue

Firefox: From Preferences go to "search" on the left-hand side. Below it will list your available search engines. If you don't recognize it, just uncheck it.
