From the Vault: Original Civil War Henry Repeating Rifle

Brownells Gun Techs and firearm historians Steve Ostrem and Keith Ford are again at Rock Island Auctions House, this time to show us an original Henry Model 1860 Repeating Rifle that was used in the Civil War. It was carried by Michael Shaughnessey, a member of Company A, Illinois 7th Infantry, who took part in many battles, as well as Sherman's March to the Sea, carrying this now patinaed old rifle. Chambered in the standard Henry round, the .44 Flat (later called the .44 Rimfire and .44 Henry), the Model 1860 was the original "Load on Sunday, shoot all week" rifle, the high-tech assault rifle of its day! What makes this particular Henry even more unique is its complete provenance of full documentation from purchase to its arrival at Rock Island Auctions. If it could talk, what tales would it tell?
