Millions of you watched Red Skelton’s historic 1992 sit-down on The Dini Petty Show—but almost no one knows what happened next.

In this rare follow up broadcast, Red makes a surprise visit to the studio and catches Dini completely off guard. She is already in tears as he walks on, fusses over her aching knees, and jokes about her weight loss and almost having surgery.

What follows is a short, intimate encore between two people who genuinely care about other. Dini tells the story of the painting Red sent on her birthday and how the nurses at her mum’s hospital locked it in the safe at night. Red pulls out one of his cigars to tell an airplane story, listens while Dini describes finding his photograph in a hotel fashion magazine, and then quietly explains that he believes he was put on earth for a purpose, to make people laugh.
