Due to the recent supreme court's approval of the Rodriguez case, under the new ruling, when you get stopped or pulled over by the police,you can only be detained for as long as it takes to write the traffic ticket. What it used to be was, the police officer could keep you up to 30 minutes. The police would also threaten to get the K-9 dog or a warrant.

If you get stopped, behave, use your manners and just wait for the police officer to return. If you are kept too long and if they find evidence to use you in a criminal case, it may not pass mustard in court because you have the right to say under Rodriguez, they kept you for too long.
